Post Vacation Blues.

I’m sure each and every one of you can relate to that downer feeling you have after a long, glorious week on vacation… away from work, away from school, away from responsibility.  When you come home, it’s like all of it slams you in the face, like you’ve got to play “catch up”.  In other words… I really don’t want to be at work this morning… but I am :)

It’s like you’re in your own little world for those seven days and the biggest decision you have to make is where you’ll go for dinner that night, or what you’ll wear that day.  Every time while we’re packing up to come home, I think to myself… “where did this week go?”  and this year was no exception.

waveThe Outer Banks of North Carolina have been good to my family for the past ten years.  It’s serene, yet there are always family friendly adventures that are just around the corner.  One minute, you can be lying on the beach in seclusion, and the next, you can be browsing the outlets or playing a game of mini golf.

Believe it or not, I actually LEARNED while I was on vacation, too.   Sure, I had a few school assignments to complete, but that’s not what I’m referring to.  My reading material while I was soaking up the sun in the sand is more like it.

ungluedUnglued by Lysa Terkeurst was handed down to my from my Momma, who also finished reading it while we were at the beach.  I could tell after the first chapter that it would be totally beneficial for me.  The objectives of reading this book are typically to:

  • Know with confidence how to resolve conflict in your
    important relationships.
  • Find peace in your most difficult relationships as you learn to be
    honest but kind when offended.
  • Identify what type of reactor you are and how to significantly
    improve your communication.
  • Respond with no regrets by managing your tendencies to stuff,
explode or react somewhere in between.
  • Gain a deep sense of calm by responding to situations out of your control
    without acting out of control.

I can honestly say I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know…including you.  Go buy it now.  Or ask me to borrow it when I’m finished.  I’m sure Momma wouldn’t mind passing around the love.

Anyway, there is something to be said about coming back to your own home and settling back in when you return from a trip.  I missed our bed.  Not that the one we slept on during the trip wasn’t comfortable… it was.  There’s just something about the comfort of your own furniture.

After unpacking last night, opening all of our mail, starting some laundry, getting in a workout, and hitting up the grocery store, the hubs and I had a nice relaxing night in.  Taco night, to be exact.  We caught up on some of our favorite shows and basically hit the sack by 9pm.  It’s official.  We’re old.

Oh… annnnnndddd I MISSED YOU :)  Glad to be back blogging!

Hope you all had a lovely week and enjoyed my not-so-wordy posts while I was away!  Another huge thank you to Jessie for her guest post on my first day away.  She is basically the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet.  I can’t wait to meet up with her in September when she comes back to the States!
